  • Other?

At my studio students enroll for group only or private only. I have not been adamant about everyone enrolling in group. I might be scared. I did it in 1988 and I lost half of my students. Boom!

I knew it was the right thing to do for my business but I did not prepare my community or myself quite enough. I was just excited to do it! That’s it. I purchased the pianos, the method, the headphones. But it was too new for my part of the country (rural Texas). I was soooo sad.

But I didn’t give up.

Today, 31 years later, I am pleased with the experience I have gained in group piano teaching in order to be able to offer my community what they are looking for and continue offering group piano lessons.

Mixed Ages

My studio caters to mostly beginning piano students and they are involved in a plethora of activities which are games that always have a different schedule. Instead of getting flustered about their schedule changes I opted to offer a way that they can continue with piano and other activities every week.

I schedule a group lesson for every day, around the same time. Students choose their preferred day to come to lessons. In the event that rescheduling is needed, they can make a change to the schedule online or just send me a text and I make the change. It works the same for make up lessons. If you are a private student and want a make up lesson, you are welcome to join one of the Mixed Age group classes.

So, what type of group lessons do you offer?
